That is the moral of the story. Protect whoever you are watching at all times. Unfortunately, in this urban legend, the girl could not protect the children she was watching. Readers are interested in this story because it is one of the more modern urban legends. Break-ins happen on a day to day basis to anyone. It is not necessarily random, but the situation can happen. This urban legend really hits home for me because I babysit kids. As a babysitter, the children come first. The fact that this woman could not protect the children is heartbreaking. It teaches readers to lock the doors, take safety precautions for everyone in the house.
