Who are you? pt.1

1.  One book that really left an impression is Uncle Toms Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Harriet portrayed a certain aspect of their time period. The book made me feel as if I was in the story. I remember from last year that the book gave me a startling sensation. The plot of the novel made me appreciative for the life that I am living now.  The people of my skin color were treated so poorly by the caucasian. Harriet wanted to tell their side of the story. I am thankful that she did tell her side of the story because it informs me. I now see the life of my ancestors and the earlier generations before me. Uncle Toms Cabin is about the life of enslaved people who are sold down further south. The book tells about their struggles and how they overcome the battles that they face along the way. This book helps me understand and makes me aware of the conditions people faced in the 1800's.

2. When someone asks me, "Who am I?", I never really know how to answer the question. I have been trying to figure myself out for 17 years. To this day, I am still unsure of who I am and what I want to do with my life. But, I can give you a good idea of how I want my future to go. My name is Olivia Greer and I am a proud Webb student who wants to become a social worker. Webb has really transformed my ideals and how I think over the past 6 years. Before I came to Webb, I never really thought about having a future. Now, my intentions have changed. Being a social worker has always been a dream of mine. Some kids are not born into good families. I really want to strive to help them be placed into a wonderful forever home. As someone who has cousins who were adopted into the family, it would be a dream come true to help kids get the happiness they deserve.

  1. I also think that Uncle Tom's Cabin is a great book! So much to think about when reading that novel. It has left such an impact on its readers, society, etc. It is a book that I think everybody should read.
Being a social worker, I bet, is probably such a rewarding profession. You get to give so much to so many people! That's awesome!
